When the key players in Kingston’s party scene first got together more than 6 years ago, it was because each individual promoter had at least one thing in common and that was a knack for showing people a good time and keeping it consistent. The meeting was initially called to discuss the lacking hype surrounding the traditional “Independence Weekend” which, since the late 80s, was where all the best promoters banded together over one weekend for an incredibly good time. Over the years, the vibe for the “Independence Weekend” and its lead-up had lulled but it was a tradition that needed to be kept up. Party people needed more; a weekend so amazing that it rewrote history books. D.A.R.K. Entertainment, Wright Image, YUSH, A-List, RAS and Xclusive bumped heads and made it so. There was only one name for the team and the weekend that they produced; the Dream Team and the Dream Weekend. Smirnoff came aboard and the Smirnoff Dream Weekend was launched in 2008.
Each one of the core events on Smirnoff Dream Weekend was or is known as the best party in Jamaica. With a few new and imported parties added to the line-up, all with the same criteria as the rest, the 6-day long Smirnoff Dream Weekend was introduced in 2012, Jamaica’s 50th year of independence. From this year’s official welcome party, Beach Rave with an EDM twist to D.A.R.K. Entertainment’s Twisted Spiritz, with a Fantasy Island, pyjama party theme; Wright Image’s White on White at Daydreams White Sandz; Scott, PP & Quizz’s YUSH, “90s Icons” featuring Skyjuice, Babycham and Bounty Killer; Dream Miami J’ouvert hosted by soca superstar, Kerwin Debouis; Deane, Jermaine, Garth and PP’s Red & White themed Smirnoff Xclusive; Party of the Year several years over, Xtreme Wet ‘n’ Wild at the Kool Runnings Water Park; Dream LIVE concert with performances by Jamaica’s top recording artists Sizzla, Agent Sasco, Spice, Alkaline and more; Beer Vibes (formerly known as RAS) with Tony Matterhorn and Igloo, the original cooler party, all bases are covered. The Smirnoff Dream Weekend in Negril is definitely party central; the best music festival in the Caribbean.
