Smirnoff Dream Weekend continues to delight Negril vendors as thousands of local and overseas visitors who attend the party series fill the resort town annually.
No one is more pleased than jerk chicken vendor Edward ‘Reds’ Simester. “I always make my best day sales for the year during Dream Weekend,” said Simester. “The summer is always a slow period for tourists so Dream Weekend really helps us vendors to stay afloat during these slow months … all of us benefit and we appreciate the business,” he said.
The vendor, who has worked at Best in the West Cocktail Bar and Jerk Chicken for the past 14 years, disclosed that each year, in anticipation of Dream Weekend revellers, he usually broadens his menu to include other items such as grilled lobster, conch and fish, served with additional sides of coleslaw, rice and peas and steamed vegetables. There is also a wide variety of alcoholic drinks for guests to choose from, including those mixed and blended.
For repeat Dream Weekend reveller, Cassandra Whitelock, her trips to Negril would simply not be as enjoyable without the great food she experienced at Best in the West.
“Every year, I fly down from Atlanta, Georgia, to attend these parties and the first thing I do when I arrive is come straight here because this jerk is simply the best I have had in Negril … I love this food!” she said.
