10 Jul BIG NAMES SET TO PERFORM AT SMIRNOFF DREAM WEEKEND
When a foreigner thinks “Jamaica”, they think sun, sand, track stars and above all else, music. When a Jamaican thinks of a party in their homeland, the first question they ask is “who’s playing?” This summer in Negril, the Smirnoff Dream Weekend will be a music lover’s “dream” come true! With over 30 acts booked for the weeklong series of parties, there is a something for everyone and everything for all. From EDM (electronic dance music) by necktied DJs on the turntables to hard core dancehall performed live by the country’s hottest DEEJAYs, the music is what partying in Jamaica is all about.
Negril comes alive on Friday, August 1st when the Smirnoff Dream Weekend kicks off with Beach Rave at Wavz Beach with Jamaica’s master of electronica, DJ Kamal Bankay and Chromatic from Kingston and Jus Jay from Barbados. That night at Cayenne Beach on the strip, mix master DJ Nicco and vibes kings Coppershot from Kingston alongside Dutty Dex from Miami and DJ Tyrone out of Toronto keep the musical fantasy real at Twisted Spiritz.
Daydreams, with the famous sea of thousands in all white in the sand at the Wonderland on Saturday will bring all the hits, powered by Young Chow from Hot 97 in New York, Chromatic and Mobay’s hottest DJ, Crazy Neil. The speakers get heavy Saturday night at YUSH when 90s rulers Renaissance Disco, Coppershot Disco and the original performing disk jock from the 90s ruling sound Metro Media, Skyjuice juggle the tracks while none other than Baby Cham and Bounty Killer perform on stage, together for the ultimate 90s musical fireworks show.
With the week now in full swing, things heat up even more at Xtreme Wet n Wild at Kool Runnings Water Park for the big bang! It’s four the hard way with hits after hits from Kingston’s hottest selectors Chromatic, the Coppershot team, DJ Nicco and DJ Lank. The musical journey continues straight into Sunday night with Beer Vibes hosted by Jazzy T from Renaissance, directing an onslaught of hardcore sounds from all around the world; Unity from Japan, Redd Heat Sound from New York, Dancehall Jugglerz from Germany, DJ Kentucky and Flava Unit from Jamaica and last but not least, multi award winning, international sound clash champion, Tony “Mentally Ill” Matterhorn.
With the week far from over, Monday brings Smirnoff X.clusive Celebrity Playground hosted by Toronto’s chart topping rapper, Kardinal Offishal and Miami Dream J’ouvert hosted by Trinidad’s own chart topping soca artist, Kerwin Du Bois. DJ Kurt Riley joins the lineup for these back to back events, unleashing his arsenal of chart toppers and soca gems. Nicco and Chromatic join him for X.clusive and he’s alongside Jus Jay and DJ Ralph for the soca (and paint!!) fans.
A week long music festival wouldn’t be complete without a stage show and Dream Live on Tuesday night will feature a line-up of Jamaica’s hottest sounds plus an incredible headlining run of #1 artistes. Flava Unit, Coppershot, Crazy Neil, Party Crushers and Grenade out of Westmoreland will heat the stage up for dancehall’s finest Alkaline, Kalado, Spice, Popcaan, Sizzla and Assassin aka Agent Sasco.
Finally on Wednesday, August 6th, Jamaica’s #1 cooler party, Igloo sends the Dreamers off with a weeklong musical recap by Dutty Dex, Coppershot, Macky & Gemini from Negril and Road International from New York.
Smirnoff Dream Weekend, August 1st – 6th will keep your head ringing for one solid year until it’s time to do it again in 2015. See you in Negril!
