Smirnoff Dream Weekend Takes Off

A 10-minute flight around Kingston was just one of the attractions patrons were treated to at the Smirnoff Dream Weekend launch which took place at the Tinson Pen Aerodrome. Marsh Lumley, brand manager of Smirnoff, told The Gleaner they decided to have flights aboard the Jamaica Air Shuttle because the patrons were worth it.

“We wanted people to experience something that was extraordinary, so we thought it would be an amazing
experience for our consumers and it would be an amazing way to launch Smirnoff Dream Weekend. We arehaving fun and, of course, we are enjoying Smirnoff responsibly,” Lumley said.

Kamal Bankay, a member of the Dream Team, told the audience that this year, Dream Weekend would be bigger and better than anything they had ever seen. Dream Weekend has extended its activities to a week and will now be hosting 11 parties.

SPECIAL GUEST
During the launch, Bankay informed patrons that they had invited a special guest who would be one of the performers at Dream Weekend. Patrons raced outside of the hangar to see which artiste was disembarking the plane which had landed minutes earlier. Alighting from the plane, with his signature ‘Yoooooow’, was fast-rising star Popcaan.

Dream Weekend will kick off with a Dream Life concert, which will feature performances from I-Octane, Beenie Man, Popcaan and others. The weekend will also include a house party and a rave. “We’ve been listening to our patrons and they like that little rave vibe so this is what we’re gonna deliver to them. We’re also including Dream Miami J’Ouvert. Our partners in Miami have brought this experience down to Jamaica to deliver another exciting experience for the weekend,” Dream Team member Phillip ‘PP’ Palmer told The Gleaner.

In fact, Dream Weekend had, in April, launched its campaign in South Florida at Igloo, attracting thousands of patrons. That launch took place on a rainy Sunday evening with patrons dressing for the weather, water boots, panchos (disposal raincoats) and, for some, umbrellas.

At the time, Jazzy T from Renaissance announced the line-up, telling the audience about the Dream live concert, Beachrave (house music) party, Igloo, Twisted Spiritz, Daydreams, Yush, Dream Jouvert, Xtreme Wet & Wild, Bere Vibes, Smirnoff Xclusive and Short Circuit. The response was phenomenal.

Fast-forward to Tuesday after a taped speech from the sponsors, and there was more excitement as those in attendance partied throughout the night while sipping on Smirnoff Blueberry, Peach, Coconut, and other flavoured vodkas.
