Award-winning sound system Coppershot Disco has been named the official ambassadors of the largest music festival in Jamaica, The Smirnoff Dream Weekend! Scheduled for August 1 – 6, 2013, in Negril, Smirnoff Dream Weekend is one of Jamaica’s most successful tourism entertainment products, seeing countless numbers of persons flocking to the resort town of Negril annually.
Having been an integral part of the Dream since its inception, Coppershot is now the festival’s official sound and ambassadors. According to the sound’s Matthew Gray, this means: “Coppershot will be promoting the festival everywhere we go, no matter where in the world we are. We will be representing for the week of activities, giving out promotional brochures, CDs, tickets, and magazines along with endorsing the company’s niche event, ‘Bleu’, the ultimate resort party (bleumovement.com). We will be kicking the energy and the vibes around the event in full gear.
“Dream is the premiere music event of its kind in the Caribbean which has shown tremendous growth over the years. It is great that the event had the confidence to make us the official sound ambassadors for the weekend. We are always on top of all trends in music and creativity, and we intend to stay on top by making the Dream experience an even better one.”
The obvious choice
Dream Entertainment promoter and Marketing Director Ron Burke has also expressed his enthusiasm and confidence in having the sound on-board. He said: “Coppershot was the obvious choice to be billed as the official sound of the Weekend. They have won four Youth View Awards as sound of the year, with three back-to-back, so naturally, the partygoers love the vibes and excitement they bring. They have always delivered over the years at our events and will definitely be a good fit to showcase the energetic and fun vibe that Dreamers yearn for over weekend.”
Leading up to the festival in Negril, the sound will be releasing the ‘Coppershot/Dream’ promotional CD in April, blending genres such as house, dancehall, soca and hip hop.
