Appleton Dream Weekend Launch party a success

Epic is the only word to describe the Appleton Dream Weekend Launch party on Sunday.

Held at the Waterfront in downtown Kingston, the ultimate summer party series came to life in true Dream Weekend fashion and it was clear that with a new partnership for 2015, bigger and better things are on the horizon.

The mandatory all-white dress code was strictly enforced, as there was no entry for persons not dressed in white. Despite this, there was a huge crowd inside the venue soaking up the Appleton Rum and enjoying the catering provided by Jacqui Tyson.

And, if the food and the liquor was not enough to get the party going, selector Badda Bling had the crowd displaying their ‘worst behaviour’ with a slew of soca and dancehall hits. The numerous tributes to fathers throughout the night reminded party goers that it was indeed Father’s Day.

Salutes aside, the party was brought to new levels when dancehall sensation Chi Ching Ching touched the stage. He had the crowd in a frenzy, as they danced up a storm to his many hits. His most recent Watchi Wiya was an obvious crowd favourite. Ding Dong later joined him on stage and also delivered some of his most popular dance tracks before calling on Beenie Man to give a brief performance.

Lady Saw also touched the stage and in true ‘Mumma Saw’ style. She had the crowd glued to her every word. When her set ended, the crowd obviously wanted more and she promised that come August in Negril, they would get the full package.

Busy Signal was the night’s closing act and he too delivered a brilliant performance, catering to the ladies in true Busy Signal fashion. By night’s end it was clear patrons weren’t ready to leave as they lounged around inside the venue.
