09 Aug Music Wins The Day At YUSH
New location, more space and even more retro music came from Dream Weekend’s YUSH party at Dream Village in Negril on Saturday. The Heineken event’s retro theme scored huge points with patrons who sang and danced the night away to one of the best events on the Dream Weekend party series.
Moving from Margaritaville to the Dream Village paid off for the promoters.
The new location held twice the number of persons that the previous location could accommodate. But even the Dream Village had to find more space for eager YUSH fans. The back of the venue, which had earlier been empty, had to be made available to deal with the massive crowd.
YUSH showed that old dancehall hits, some as old as two decades, were still relevant, even at a party that boasts a young audience.
Almost everything the selectors touched turned to gold, Half Pint’sGreetings and Junior Reid’s One Blood sending the crowd into a frenzy. The same was true for almost every selection.
The spirit of Independence was also celebrated through the music, with hits like Cherry Oh Baby by Eric Donaldson, among others. The audience sang Donaldson’s hit word for word.
Delano pleased patrons
Delano of Renaissance showed poise when producing the Jamaica 50 showcase and pleased the patrons, helping them have a good time.
Stone Love made its entrance on Dennis Brown’s Here I Come andHarder They Come and wasted no time in proving why the sound system has remained at the top of the game for as long as it has.
It is no secret why this event is as successful in Kingston as it is Negril, partygoers love retro and the huge crowd all loved the vibe and atmosphere of YUSH. Less talking on the microphone by selectors and more music.
